anyone had there's done recently or on the past?

I had mine done last week and upon further inspection it's god awful, Looks like there is contaminents in the film aswell as what appears to be very faint air bubbles. The company will be getting a nice phone call tomorrow to get this dog crap taken out and give me a refund. I don't want to waste my time letting them redo it, even tho you apparently have to give them the opportunity to rectify the mistakes.

anyone else had bad or good experiences with having there windows tinted?

Yeah I got my windows tinted a couple of years back, with 3M crystalline. The only problem I had was a small bubble (~3mm) on the drivers side window which they replaced no problem. Then a year later a sucker from my GPS pulled a bit of tint off and they replaced the whole front window tint with no problem.
If you have any kind of bits or bubbles you should get them to replace the whole film.

had mine done about a month ago.

took two days to settle properly. no faults.

the guy doing it had a bently in for light smokes and a rangerover in for 'drug dealer black'

lifetime guarantee and it was done in a few hours.

OP, i would suggest taking pictures of the problems as best you can and taking your vehicle to show them the problems when the lighting is good enough to point out the issues.

if they are a decent company, they will sort it. if not then i guess you will need to explore small claims etc.

Had ours done by the dealer, no problems.

Fiesta before that had darker aftermarket ones done from almost new which were fine after 7 years.

Is it normal for window tinters to remove the glass to tint or do they do it in situ?

If the latter, do you get any sort of visible edge?

Also, what's the law on tints. Am I right in thinking front glass will already be tinted up to the legal maximum allowed?

No, they do it in situ. The only visible edge is about 5mm at the top of the window which is only visible when you roll it down, but not always.
If you get the front tinted there will be a slit above the rear view mirror mounting point where they fit the film around it.

tried taking pictures today but with it being wet the camera won't pick it up, but it's clear to see with the eye.

here's one issue aswell as the screen being left dirty, the installer reckons it was left like this as they didnt want to move the film because of the thick heat lines on my lexus. Crap it's awful and if this were the case he should have mentioned it before I left which he did not. He's agreed to a refund and to take the film out after I mentioned I got a second opinion on the job done he was not too pleased but I don't really care, the job is a joke.

every pane of glass has little spots either were it's dust thats caught the film or air trapped.

At least removal of the film and a full refund is better than most would offer.

true, but im waiting for this to happen before I get too enthusiastic.

Going on from what i've heard of this companies tactics Im not going to hold my breath that my credit card company having to get involved.

I went with this particular firm as they appeared to be a pritty big going concern in the south west, but upon investigation this dude and his little merry men move around the south west on different days and sublet premises for them days.

They make out they have permanent premises in all these locations but they don't.

The demister lines are easily damaged when removing window tints, I would check if any are damaged before and after.

yep im wary of this, his attitude will be one of don't give a toss when removing it probably. All the lines work fine and for a 10 year old car im suprised at this to be honest lol.

I will state this before he does it, but I can see this dragging on - well until next monday anyway because this is when I can get my card company to do a charge back on him. But I will be £50.00 down if I have to do this because thats roughly what other tinters want to remove the film, they state the sides are quite easy, it's just the rear screen thats harder.
