Problems, problems, problems. :(

I've got a problem after installing Windowblinds this morning. When i rebooted, all I got was a black screen with no start menu button or taskbar. The only way i can start any programs is by ctrl/alt/delete and then file/new task.

I have since un-installed windowblinds but it's still the same. I actually had uxtheme5.0 installed before I installed windowblinds. Could this be the problem?

Also, I have no way of getting to system restore so I can restore my settings to what they were before I installed all this trash.

Any help would be appreciated.

When i boot into safe mode, i still get the same black screen. I also cannot repair my Windows installation as I don't currently have a CD-RW.

When you run programs from the task manager, can you run explorer.exe?

That should be in the Windows folder shouldn't it? All that's there is one that is now called explorer1.exe. This must have been renamed when I installed Windowblinds. When i run it, all it does is open My Documents.

Sounds very similar to a problem I had with WB...........had to use System restore to bring us back before installing WB in order to get Windows back working..
I'm running X64 and found out the hard way the the Beta versions you can download from the Stardock app are asking for trouble......downloading a release candidate works fine with no issues..
Thought it was just an X64 thing, but maybe the beta versions throw up all kind of problems for different setups..

Strange, I use WB5 and explorer.exe still exists. Running it, as I'm sure you know, should make the taskbar and desktop appear (if they're not already running).

Can I ask if you are using a legit version of WB, because I understand that the dodgy version does cause problems...

Yeah, it's legit. I'm wondering if the there's a conflict because I first install the uxtheme5.0 patch.
