Hello. Is this a 1903v Win10 bug? Always when plugging new gpu it crashing display driver only in first boot on login screen. Then its fine. Its happening always on first boot with new gpu plugged.
On 1809v there was not issue with this.

Well I haven't heard of it before but if I were you then I would go back to the previous version of Windows and stay there for a bit. I certainly did that with 1903 for some months because there were issues with Search and problems with the USB ports for me. Since then Microsoft have sorted my issues though so I have installed 1903 and it's fine. I certainly did change the GPU once since then with no problems but that means little. Just go back to the previous version for a few months.

On 1809v there was not issue with this.

System normally shutdown before unplugging/plugging.

MENU-->SHUTDOWN. Plugging First card: 2080 Ti Waterforce Xtreme Aorus, Windows 10 1903v. Display crash only on first boot on login screen.

Unplugging first card, plugging Second card: 2080 Ti Waterforce Xtreme Aorus, Windows 10 1903v. Display crash only on first boot on login screen.

On 1809v windows version i had 2x 2080 Ti Aorus Xtreme not waterforce ( with 3fans ) and on first boot with next second card not crashed on login screen.

So or its issue with 1903v or just bios of waterforce. I even changed psu but this is not psu.

ps: I tested 2 different cards, different 2 psus. Only 9900K is stock, mobo Asus Prime Z390-A,32gb DDR4 No issues despite that weird crash only in 1 boot with new gpu on login screen.

Just make topic to be sure, and for information of course. Really appreciate it for knowledge answers. Or maybe somebody faced that issue with new card during 1 initial boot on login screen?

Lots more info there. So you updated from 1809 to 1903 and that is when this issue started? There is 1909 now. I suspect something may have corrupted during the update. Have you tried a clean install of Windows yet? Maybe grab 1909 and do a clean install with this and see if you still get the issue.

From 1903 i think i saw issue. Also somebody from LinusTT forum get the same display driver crash in event log ,on login screen, when swapping from 1080 ti FE to 1080 Ti Evga Ultra. So maybe something with fast startup windows 10 v1903 or something.

In cases like this I would say use DDU it even Nvidia to Nvidia.

Follow the option to swap cards even though you have already done so, it will be in Safe Mode and Power OFF to swap (which you do not need to) then boot up and install clean GFE and let it install the latest driver.

Funny, had this issue with a 1070gtx to 1080ti swap on my bedroom htpc. Then the GTX did the same on my mums pc! Was worried the cards were going bad but i've benched and stressed both to kingdom come with no issues.
