Windows 10 Anytime Upgrade

I've just bought a laptop running on Windows 10 home but I've got a spare Windows Pro licence key laying around that I'd like to make use of to take advantage of BitLocker but I can't work out how to upgrade?

There doesn't seem to be any option for an Anytime Upgrade like there was in Win7 and the "change licence key" feature doesn't work - presumably because I'm changing versions?

Does anyone way of upgrading or will it have to be a fresh install with a Pro iso?

could try this but I have no idea if it works with win 7 pro key

You may be able to use the Key to install 10 but I think this only works if you have used the key before to upgrade. You might have to format and install pro, then upgrade.

I ended up on chat with Microsoft support and it was an absolute pain to do this.

I had to deactivate the licence keys on both machines, reinstall windows on both, use a generic Win 10 Pro key to upgrade the laptop (with embedded home) up to Pro then activate both. The Pro key didn't work though, despite Microsoft checking it, so it had to go through remote support so they could manually activate it.

It's all sorted now though, got Bitlocker activated on my laptop which makes a lot more sense that having it on a spare desktop!
