Windows 10 Audio Playback Missing

I've just done a fresh install of Windows 10 on a friend's computer, upgrading it from Windows 7.

All has gone exactly as expected, other than missing an audio playback device in the sound options. I have plugged in a wireless headset, which is listed as an option, but that is all. Nothing there to enable audio from the speakers as we were doing before.

High Definition Audio Device is listed twice in device manager, and I've uninstalled/installed/disabled/enabled the drivers for these without any joy.

Don't suppose anyone has any ideas for me please?

Has Windows Update been run to check for updates? WU will have drivers for the vast majority of audio devices on mobos and should auto install after a check.

Unfortunately so. Just tried again to see if anything was missed, but we're still in the same boat.

The playback device still isn't there to select in the sound options from the taskbar in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Same with Skype and other apps.

I imagine there's a conflict of driver somewhere perhaps. I take it you downloaded the audio drivers off the mobo maker's website and ran the installer instead of bundled drivers on disc?

I've managed to find the driver from the motherboard manufacturer website, eventually! It involved searching every printed number on the motherboard, hoping one was a model number. It's a computer that was originally bought for my wife, in Brazil.

I wrongly presumed it should have already been working, everything seemed to be fine in device manager. It's all working correctly now though, thanks for taking the time to point me in the right direction, it's saved me from more headache!
