Windows 10 Backup software with versioning

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but you could try Duplicati?

You can set it to backup to cloud or hard disk (I suppose NAS would be a mapped drive) and it can be configured to keep backups to a certain amount, or for a certain amount of time so that you can restore files from a specific date.

Version 2 is still "experimental" but I've found it reasonably good, I'd recommend you give it a test run and try to restore some backups etc.

what i actually want is to have the program manage access to NAS within the software not requiring windows to have the drive mapped. this way it will give me some protection against any potential ransomware.

Veeam Endpoint Backup

It's free, and you can create a user on the NAS called 'veeam' for exmaple and only give this to the backup software. Allow your normal user read-only access to the location.

It's very good software. 100% free

i am using todo backup atm and will give veeam a try.

Crashplan was a massive disappointment.

crashplan used to support ARM version NAS for qnap but it seems they have recently dropped that. anyway the crashplan itself doesn't support any networked drives (mapped or unmapped) it only supports what windows sees from the motherboard.

todo actually have network access function which I need to type in user name and password every time. (this is good) but I need automation.

It's pretty banging :)

I prefer the customisation that you get in Macrium Reflect, but you can't knock the simplicity of Veeam Endpoint.
