Windows 10 - Best Free AV?

Why do you need aftermarket AV? Aren't we all supposed to be PC users who know what they're doing? The inbuilt security is all you need when you know what you're doing.

Just because we are PC users doesn't mean that we don't make mistakes. It also doesn't mean that every piece of software we download or whatever is 100% secure.

I don't really see how you can make that statement.

I'd be the same just use the inbuilt. Every now and then I'll check out something better do a sweep of the machines and find nothing. On other peoples machines I use Avast. Depends on the person. Some people are fine with the default. Other peoples machine are always full of crud. They just have to click on everything.

MSE is more than enough for anyone who's even slightly competent on a PC, Panda etc are designed for your average click happy Sims addicted housewife. :D

Because you should make these precautions - been using inbuilt for years and never had a single problem because I pay attention to what I'm doing.

If I'm suspicious I'll sandbox it first. If you think you need AV, then I think you're not all that competent. :p

That's fair enough, though I still disagree lol. Depends on just how security conscious you are.

Be careful because it seems some are not 100% compatible with the final release version. So cause weird problems.

Defender is enough these days really. Most other AV software is bloated and not actually very good at stopping viruses. They are more focused on trying to sell you stuff.
