Apologies if this has already been answered.
I have installed and activated windows 10 from windows 7 now i wanted to clean install and selected reset this pc .Is this the same as doing it the old way with media and a usb drive ?
Also what happens the the old windows 7 key once you upgrade ?
Thanks

i did this with my setup, always prefer a clean install but that's just me!

W7 to W10, made sure W10 was activated once this was done i downloaded the ISO from Microsoft using their tool, found here

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

i then formatted the SSD and then done a clean install of W10, skipped the section where it asked for the key twice and then oce my PC was on the internet W10 activated.

your hardware\W7 key are both tagged for use with W10. the key for W7 will still be useable as you can go back and do a clean install of W7 if needed or you don't like W10but you cannot have W7 and W10 installed using the same key so its one OS or the other.

I always prefer a clean install also .Just wanted to know if the setting to reset your pc is the same as doing a clean install from media .

As for the windows 7 key i guess it cant be used on another machine ? I thought the windows 10 license was tied to hardware and not a key.Its very confusing
