Windows 10 deactivated after BIOS update?

What phone number did you use, and did you speak to a indian person, went through 3 people for like a hour+ and no joy, each said go back to windows 7 and update again.

I used the windows 10 contact app.

I told them that I updated my bios on ky motherboard and had the error message ending 003 or whatever it was.

The important points to tell them:
You upgraded from windows 8.1/7 retail
After upgrading you activated and fresh installed
Then activated again

Then state the issue causing deactivation - bios update works, and they will provide a key and deactivate the windows 8.1/7 key.

Cheers, for that info.

in particular this text:
Yes. Once you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware. If you make a meaningful change to your hardware, you may need to contact customer support to help with activation.

I have been advised to re-install previously, this is unreasonable as I have a fully licensed 8.1 Retail Key I would like the same to replace the Windows 10 key that is no longer working

I think you can still say the same thing to them - they said specifically that if you get error code ending C003 - they can provide one to you as long as the upgrade path was followed correctly

Infact, I will ask this. The guy who gave me my key, I have the link to reopen chat with him, so I might do that and ask if the procedure he followed with me, applies to OEM

Yeah I used the app

Just tried to get the answer there and they said without being provided the key they cant evaluate the situation

What I did before to confirm the process was go on the app and say to them you need to update your bios for some reason, and you want to know whether you are eligible to get a windows 10 key if error code C003 appears after updating the bios.

They will ask for the key, verify it and then advise whether or not they can do it

Just be sure to mention this path: Windows 7/8/8.1 - upgraded to 10. Activated 10, then fresh installed it and activated once more.

For some reason they are picky about the path you take to get to 10.
