Windows 10 Defender update problem

Windows defender updated properly on 27/8 but today refused to install update and returned the message

Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.205.797.0) - Error 0x80070003

Which it says is to do with an internet connection - but on the defender screen it downloads the update and crashes on install,

Anybody else seen this please?

But I have found a MS site where you can download the latest definitions as an exe file - these do update Defender and other Win updates work OK?
