I was wondering if anyone knows of any new features in Windows 10 or features removed?

Should all Windows 7 programs work on Windows 10?

What different versions are there and what different features do they add?

People on here are generally very helpful, but they do expect you to make some effort yourself. I suggest you research the net - plenty of info available on windows 10. Or as suggested above - read the Win 10 thread.

We're such a warm community. I don't see the harm in someone not wanting to wade through a thread with 2000 posts, but I suppose there was nothing stopping him asking in the live Windows 10 thread.

Anyway, I think the only major feature who's future is up in the air is Media Center, which while not a large concern for most is a massive issue for those who use it for live TV, as there really isn't anything else even nearly as fluid on the market.

Otherwise I don't know of anything which would want to make you think twice about upgrading.

What does Media Center do exactly? I have my PC connected to my TV via HDMI so I just watch videos on Media Player Classic Home Cinema.

The Virtual Desktops would be useful. Not sure what other features are.

Records and plays live TV if you hook up a tuner. I don't use it for media playback other than for TV (PotPlayer is by far and away the best media player, in my opinion, in every other scenario)

How does PotPlayer compare to MPC-HC?

Full of features and works out of the box far better in my opinion. I've always found MPC & VLC to be much clunkier at quick skips back and forward. This is about as smooth as it gets.

Like I say, tons of options if you want them, but I like it out of the box (except for the skin which I change to Blackbox3).

The reason I chose MPC-HC was because it was the only program I could find that would allow me to keep a playlist on the right-hand side of the program after closing and reopening the program which is useful when listening to albums. Can PotPlayer do that?

I was going to download PotPlayer but it doesn't seem to have a portable version?

Yup, does it by default (unless you close PotPlayer and then open a video from elsewhere, in which case it starts a new playlist).

Also, if you open a video associated with PotPlayer, like double click a file in a folder, it will also add files with a similar file name format. Here for example I opened "S01E03 Lord Snow" of Game of Thrones, all stored in one folder. It also added the rest of the folder to the playlist. Small feature, but actually awesome. (The enter key or double clicking the video makes the video full screen, I just wanted to show the playlist format function).

Sorry, I've no idea if there's a portable version.

Snip

.

I take it your comment was aimed at me and my post above - sorry about that, not feeling too well at the moment, so a bit short with people. Apologies to the OP as well. It seems the info needed has now been posted.

The first reply annoyed me more.
