I am getting frequent freeze in windows.

i have tested my hardwares - CPU hours long stress test no faults, memtest passed, GPU tested fine, NvMe no smart errors and ran sfc for Windows all fine.

windows will freeze on random things. But mostly associated with Chrome.

the only thing I can think of is the latest windows update. It’s a new feature update.

OS version 2004
OS build 19041.508
Feature Experience Pack 120.2213.31.0

anyone else is getting similar issues with the above build and pack?

decided to roll back to 1909 build.

when it happens did you open task manager at all?

if so did you notice system interrupts spiking in the task list? I seem to get this from time to time on 2004 and only happens if I have a chromium based web browser open (For me the new Microsoft edge) and then try and launch something esle... for me its most notable if I have say web browser on one screen and then launch a game..

any other programmes being used in tandem don't seem to exhibit this problem
System will randomly freeze. Initially i spotted a windows programme called “task starter” that was right at the top of CPU utilisation. So googled it and turns out to be all the background “experience” and content suggestion programme. So I went and disabled all the privacy settings and content suggestions etc.

but it still freeze, sometimes during using apps like pdf editor, other times using chrome. But chrome definitely cause more regular and frequent freeze.

anyway on the latter freeze, no apps were topping any CPU/RAM/Disk access charters. The computer will become unresponsive ie the active window will become unresponsive and no matter what I click nothing would work. Then once I tab out the subsequent window will not load up and then gradually it will completely freeze ie pressing the windows button won’t bring up programme menu and task manager will freeze as well then it is just a hard reset.
