Hi Guys,

My PC is really bugging me now to upgrade to 10, shall I just make the jump? is it worth it now? Feel like I should get with the times a bit?

It's worth a try, if you don't like it you can revert back to 7 within the first month (as long as you don't clean install)
I did it but run Classic Shell so it looks like 7 anyway. Check out some of the posts here to see what to tweak/say no to when installing.

I would update to Windows 10 within the free period at least. Note down the key they gave you and download the ISO.

If you want to get rid of the upgrade message:
"Microsoft delivered this notification through a program which is installed through Windows update. The upgrade assistant is named GWX.exe in C:\Windows\System32\GWX. If you are not interested in Windows 10, you can remove this program from your PC. Go to Windows Update->Installed update, remove KB3035583."

Give it a try?, I tested it out, was ok really to test for free, it has potential, i hated windows 8 absolutely detest the win 8.1 operating system. I downloaded the win 10 x64 iso and stuck it on a usb flash drive. The problem i have with windows 10 is it will automatically download graphics card drivers and all the crap that comes with nvidia driver software. Best bet is to try and switch off your internet before it starts to download gpu drivers then somehow get into the operating system and disable some auto download features, this is one of the biggest gripes with windows 10 for me personally, they have taken away the easy option to opt out of automatic downloads, it's the same with my sound card drivers most of what was automatically downloaded by win 10 was outdated and unwanted. For example i only install the nvidia gpu driver and the physx software all the other nvidia rubbish i don't want nor need, it is a pain in the neck and a backward move from microsoft. I don't have high hopes for directx 12 games neither, but i shall see, it's worth a test run then you will know, i don't think it's all that and any better than windows 7 x64 overall, your experience might be different from mine, give it a go, in the end i went back to 7, i did a fresh install of windows 7, at the minute i prefer windows 7.

just put windows 10 on my desktop , windows 7 folder was 26 gb, with all the updates over the years, win 10 13gb so freed up some space on my small ssd drive.

now i will make it look like win 7 :p

Im with Kedge on this.. I tried it for a few weeks on my previous build but when I moved house I used my laptop for a few weeks which I refused to put 10 onto as ive got vcds and stuff installed.
once I got my pc set up and back on 10 I missed using 7.. so when I built my new machine it went to 7 and at the moment ill keep it that way.

my dad's Toshiba laptop I upgraded to 10 a few day's ago just becuase its better than 8.1 in my eyes but I still prefer 7
