How are some games getting big increases with an OS update and how does this compare against Windows 7?

Microsoft added a feature in Windows 10 called Game mode, it really didn't help "Well least for me" In this version Microsoft have been talking about making Game mode much better for while now but didn't expect this results.

All Games I test will be 1440p Ultra, Minus any Blur effects.

This release and performance numbers are all over the place. Joke showing massive gains is the only one with this amount of boost while other including myself do see some ok-ish boost while other see zero change?

And it continues Lol! New driver 17.40 is helping game performance even more here! Check out CSGO and Rainbow six

Fresh 17.10.1 install on the left (pre-wcu), fresh 17.40 install in the middle (pre-wcu) and fresh updated windows with 17.40 on the right. Windows Energy Profile: High Performance

00:01 - Battlefield 1

00:55 - Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege

01:55 - Dota 2

03:10 - Couter-strike: Global Offensive

05:00 - Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

At least it is not slower :)

There is a consistantly higher vram use on the right wcu run's that i cant explain
