I have built a mate a pc out of recycled parts I have which I know to be good. don't have the exact spec. buts its basically as follows

Case/PSU
Intel Core 2 Quad
gigabyte motherboard
8gb ddr3
Sandisk 128gb SSD

Windows 10 installs fine, then after a few days, I started it up and its stuck in an endless boot loop, gets halfway through startup and then :( INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE, then restarts and the same again over and over.

anyone have any ideas as I'm miffed on this one. The SSD I think is under warranty. is there any compatibility options to do with SATA that I need to change in the BIOS (even if it means re installing windows)

I found removing and then refiting the SSD can help, as well as changing the SATA header on the MB, say from SATA 1 to 2 etc.

i can try that.. but I don't underdstand why it should just suddenly start booting up windows and then stop..

didn't work, endless boot cycle, INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE over and over. wondering if the SSD is stuffed

Do you just have a SSD attached?
When doing a windows install with other drives attached like a HDD it can store files all over the place, might have done that and then lost some of what it needs to boot up?

If not, it's possible it's a SSD issue, would try a fresh install with just the SSD plugged in and then run a SSD health checker.

Also make sure it's set to AHCI in the BIOS.

no other drives installed (At the time) no AHCI option in BIOS.. drive still under warranty so I have RMA since this is the 2ndpc its done it in
