I was going to try installing windows 10 on my Lenovo Thinkpad T520 however windows 10 is not supported. The Chipset is Intel QM67 and the graphics is Intel HD Graphics 3000. I cant find drivers for these items so it might not be possible to install windows 10. ;)

Take a disc image and try - if it all goes wrong just reinstall the old image :)

Windows will have generic drivers for all this, and will install any relevant drivers later. Just get yourself install media, jump in, and give it an internet connection once up and running. :)

You might be able to installl older drivers using compatibility mode.

Thanks for your reply, thats a good idea i will give it a try. ;)

Nothing, Windows 10 installer just installed Windows as normal

Ok thanks for letting me know, i will give it a try ;)

Thanks for your reply. I dont know much about this OS or how secure it it. Thanks for the link. ;)

i've got windows 10 installed on a thinkpad t500 absolutely fine...so i'm sure a t520 will be fine too...
Thanks for your reply. Good to hear it worked fine for you. It should be fine for me too. ;)

It should install fine. Just try it and see what happens.

Thanks for your reply. I will give it a go ;)

Take the opportunity to install a new SSD. Then if it all goes wrong you can just put the old HDD back in.
Thanks for your reply, i already have a SSD installed. Someone suggested making an iso backup so i will try that too. ;)

It should run with no problems, I have a T420 with a QM67 chipset & Intel 3000 graphics. On the Lenovo website it says it's not supported - but it works. I've had mine running for over 2 years. I can't remember about the drivers, I think most of the drivers were picked up during installation with only the Wifi missing. The drivers that are missing/updated you can go on the Intel website and download the Wifi, graphics seperately or you can use the Win7/Vista drivers from the Lenovo site (Bluetooth springs to mind). The sound adapter I think I downloaded seperately, mine is a Conexant 20672 SmartAudioHD.

If this is your only machine I would make a recoverable disk image just in case and it might be a good idea you get the drivers first while you have an internet connection.

I sincerely apologise for missing your reply. I did manage to install windows 10 and so far so good. I did run in to a few similar problems similar to your experience but it seems stable enough which is good.
