I recently tried upgrading the computer in my sig to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 Pro however of the 3 times I have tried it has failed each time at 83% of copying files complete (and 24% of everything completed).

The first time I got a blue-screen which threw me the "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT" error (C1900101 - 20004 shown as error code when I log back into previous windows version after powering my rig off and on again).

Second time it just froze at the same point but didn't go to an error screen, so I powered it off again and got the same error code notification when logging back in.

Third time it froze again at the same point then when to a blue-screen with the error of "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" with the same error code given above again when logging back in.

I should note that this is when using the windows updater to try to upgrade.

I ran "SFC \SCANNOW" and "CHKDSK \F C:" in the command prompt where both returned no errors, however I ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" which gave me "Error 0x800f0906" saying the source files could not be downloaded - not sure if this is relevant though.

To be honest, I'm at a complete loss of what to do to fix this really. Any help would be appreciated :)

(Note I have 2 monitors, 2 SSDs (one of which is the C drive) and 1 HDD, 2 GPUs and my CPU is OC'd to 4.60 GHz; if any of that information is needed)

EDIT: Also, I should note I upgraded my Win8.1 laptop to Windows 10 without issue and this uses Kaspersky AV as well as my desktop so I don't think the anti-virus is the issue here)

While random it is worth a try, once you have kicked off the install unplug all your USB devices.

Sounds daft but with Win7 my PC would do the copy, and then hang on the next part unless all USB was unplugged.

Just thought I'd update this in case anyone else has the same issue.

Turns out that just unplugging the SATA cable from my DVD drive allowed the upgrade to go through successfully - odd, but at least it works!
