Hi

I have recently noticed an issue with my onboard Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection. Every now and then it would fail to load correctly on bootup. In the past I have had to reboot the computer and sure enough it would fix after rebooting. It sort of behaved like my old banger 2002 golf with it's intermittent EML faults. Sometimes the central locking on it wont work so I had to lock it and unlock it again and works fine.

Recently I found a quicker way to fix this, I can open device manager and right click on the lan card and select scan for hardware changes and it would load the correct driver and it's working fine again.

It seems to have been an issue a few months ago, prior to that it worked fine. I have the latest driver installed https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/52963/Intel-82579V-Gigabit-Ethernet-PHY

But it hasn't resolved the issue.

I find that windows 10 generally has an issue picking the correct driver. Sometimes with USB devices you have to plug and unplug the devices a few times to get it to recognise.

I have the lan card connected to a netgear gs105 switch which connects to my tplink router.

When it fails to load what does the Windows event log tell you?

This hasn't been my experience on any build of Windows 10.

  • Replace the actuator on the Golf, it's a known issue and they're stupidly cheap.
  • Choose the older driver that you say worked and remove the newer one that you say doesn't.

Uninstall the Intel driver and just let Windows use the built-in Windows driver
