This must have been asked a million times, however I have searched and can't find.

Every time I install Nvidia drivers windows update soon after automatically updates over them.

The things I've tried so far.

1) Gone into control panel and under system settings -> hardware selected 'No' to device installation settings.

2) Following this guide on How to Geek and put Hardware ID's into device installation restrictions

http://www.howtogeek.com/263851/how-to-prevent-windows-from-automatically-updating-specific-drivers/

Despite both of the above, windows update still wants to replace it's own Nvidia drivers with latest ones from Nvidia web-site.

Hi Bledd, yes using latest drivers from Nvidia. What happens is if I do a windows update, or just after a period of time they just get updated.

Last night I was having a late night programming session, and at 3am windows installed new drivers automatically, I was literary programming code as it did it!

Is there anyway at least to stop Windows installing updates by itself?

C6, I tried this and it made no difference.

My experience is the same as weyland has written. I might try disabling windows update and start over again.
