I have the latest fast ring insider preview and as the machine cold boots, it hangs at the screen with the blue windows logo (four blue squares). I don't get the spinning dots, and there is no event data recorded other than I am forced to do a hard reset. The next time it boots, it is fine.

I have tried cold booting, then before it gets to that screen soft reset, but the result is the same.

Anyone else having this and know what might be causing it?

Only thing I have noticed is that when reseting (powering off) on the first cold boot, the speakers squeak loudly which is not something I've heard before on any PC.

There is a known start up issue with the 14267 build - it was pulled for quite a few people.

EDIT: Disabling fast start up is the recommended "fix" for the problems with that build.

If applicable you might find that disabling hibernation, removing any hibernation files and re-enabling it also helps.

lol. Yup. Very squeaky!! I am glad I didn't have them on when it first happened because it was bloody loud.

Rroff: Thanks, you are a star. I did report it like a good insider! lol.

Update: Disabling the fast boot worked perfectly. Then last night there was a fast ring preview update and this issue appears to be fixed now :)
