Windows 10 Networking Question

I have 2 Macs and a sff Windows 7 Desktop, I needed a Windows laptop for some business related stuff when out and about.

Picked up an HP i5 2.7 Ghz i5, 8GB Ram, 256 SSD - seems decent enough, nippy for the money.

It may just be me, but the networking side of things on Windows 10 seems pretty rubbish.

The 2 Macs and the W7 PC all interact together perfectly and they always have. The 2 Macs can both see the W10 machine and move content to it. The W10 machine can move files back to the Mac only by dropping files into the same shared folder, they do not actually appear as network devices in explorer.

I also have a network audio player, the 2 Macs and W7 can see it and access it perfectly, the W10 machine cannot see it at all - BUT after installing the various things I needed and numerous reboots all of a sudden every device appeared perfectly as proper network devices, then most of them disappeared

Network discovery is turned on as is file sharing.

What I am missing?

Common sense or it W10 that bad?

Try starting the Function Discovery Resource Publication Service (make sure it's set to Automatic if you find it resolves the problem). Also anything old that relies on SMB 1.0 won't work on the W10 1803 update unless you manually enable it in control panel.
