I have sound but cannot access the Xonar Xense application so cannot change anything!! No drivers out from Asus yet either so will have to wait :(

Weird,I'm using latest beta drivers from Asus website for 8.1(Asus xonar DX) and same ones for my Win10 upgrade with no issues

I had the same thing with my XFI card, managed to find some drivers that fixed it though.

Although randomly there will be no sound after certain boot ups.

uni drivers worked for me. I'm using an essance stx,no joy with any of the standard drivers though

same with me;

I had to go into device manager and delete the sound card (although don't tick drivers as well) then scan for changes and it picks it up again and sounds works fine.

I have to do with every 2nd or 3rd reboot which is a bit annoying

I tried both uni and 8.1 drivers on win 10 as soon as I updated with no results
I tried a clean install with uni and 8.1 drivers and 8.0 drivers with no results
I reseated the sound card and tried the above with no results

I really don't know where to go from here

ok so I feel pretty dumb but at least its fixed, in the audio center I had front panel headphones set apparently as default. changed to normal headphones and its fine now

I had that problem. Windows 10 silently updates the driver to some Xfi driver that doesn't seem to work. My Xfi sound kept going off until I realised this was updating it to a non-working driver.

To stop windows auto-updating drivers ...

Right click on This PC (also known as MyComputer) > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > Never install driver from Windows Update.

i was also havin sound card problems. i have a creative xtreme gamer card. no sound at all in w10 after upgrading from w7. playback shows that device is playing but nothing could be heard. defaulted then to onboard sound and swapped all leads over..... still nothing! rebooted and sound began to work via soundcard! w10 crashed and no sound again!!! tried to change audio settings to different rates in advanced settings and it made no diff. couldnt check the creative sound setup thingy as w10 told me it was not compatible! gave up and rolled back to w7 and all fine again.
