Windows 10 on a new motherboard

I upgraded to Windows 10 from my copy of Windows 8 x64 pro on my Asus maximus v gene mobo! I am now upgrading to skylake and I got myself a viii hero! Am I going to be able to activate Windows 10 again on the new one if I install my copy of Windows 8 and upgrade on the new motherboard?

I think I got my windows 8 when it was first released and it was a cheap upgrade from Windows 7 so I'm not sure if I have retail hopefully it will work again
