Windows 10 or 11?

A lot of people don't see it like that, and they upgrade anyway without testing. Then they find out it's broken somewhere then blame someone else usually.

It's easier to blame someone else.. or pets. Or kids.

But you're right, fickle and shortsighted we are at times. It's human nature to chase the new and shiny shiny when actually it's not always better.

I've always got a spare drive sitting there to test stuff now especially when it comes to operating systems and backups.

I'd suggest you're in the minority of people that would do that compared to those that see "free upgrade" and ignore the consequences.

If you go into it with your eyes wide open and actually manage to exploit the "newness" then it's win win - but many people don't take that approach.

I waited until a lot of the fixes were deemed "fixed" , but similarly to you I used a new / other HDD to install it on. Since all my stuff is saved to cloud or home server I knew my data was safe and the applications I use are all compatible I took the plunge. Honestly I've got used to it now and do enjoy the experience - but perhaps I'm just forcing myself to like it because I can't be bothered to go back to 10 :D

Took me a year to move over to it. I was testing it though throughout the time. Every time it broke I would install it again until it become stable.

I didn't have the time - I let experts like you do it for me!

I'm not much of a customiser, but similarly to many I like to do things a certain way, to some they find it horrendous to others they think it's interesting. I don't have workflow issues with the sort of work I do, but can completely get it if it adds extra clicks or steps or confusion to getting the work you need done. That would be hugely frustrating especially if there was no way of improving or enhancing your workflow to fit.

I've not customised a single thing really, left it all alone on default.

hey guys,

in Windows 11, does anyone know how the hell to disable PIN code / password so it can boot straight to the desktop. Im secure enough in my own house, with no one to use it, so password is totally unnecessary for me personally.

I think you may need to use a local account instead of your MSFT account to disable password on signin. Should be able to leave the password blank.

Try opening netplwiz and see if the checkbox for "Users must enter a password.... Blah blah blah" is there. Uncheck it if it is.

thanks, i have done this now. but when I click "apply" settings its asking to set a new username and password.

What will happen to the account (one im using atm) if I "create" a new user??

Oof, not sure on that one I'm afraid, I setup 11 with a local account from the start and that checkbox just worked for me

Got another 1tb Nvme drive on the way for games storage..

im going to do a fresh install of W11 again and use the main Nvme drive solely for apps and so..

what I am wondering is if I will need another licence code even though no new hardware like mobo etc is being installed..

or if it does ask for actication, cam I just re input the code I bought in the first place? It’s for W11 pro edition.
