I've lost the shortcut on my start menu to the RDP that I use to connect to my work PC. Not only has the shortcut gone but I can't find it in Windows anywhere. The only thing that comes close is the Remote App and Desktop Connections but there's no way there to run the RDP to connect to my work PC.

Has Microsoft removed this as part of some recent W10 update? My PC had some kind of fit last night; Office 365 screwed up and a repair didn't fix it. My Razer Synapse software went haywire as well.

Edit: Something definitely happened last night. I ran an sfc /scannow check and it found some problems and fixed them. The RDP re-appeared. If only I could find out what on earth happened last night to cause this chaos!

Well Microsoft basically owns any system on which you install Windows 10 and can control it in any way they like.

They've been playing around with a lot of stuff recently, adding and removing apps to doctor their ad revenue, replacing system drivers with custom hacked drivers, then spying on your reaction to make sure you're ****ed off. etc.

I caught M$ remote-installing random games and apps a few weeks ago.

Terrible virus, Windows 10. No one really knows it's limits, but what is certain is that it's the largest unmitigated spyware operation in the history of communication.

What a complete tin foil load of cobblers and what's worse, has nothing to help the OP at all in their post. Go start a tin foil hat wearing thread and keep it all in there.

OP, chances are whatever fit your PC had has either caused a repair to happen or it's removed the items. See if you can roll back to a previous install, and create a USB offline backup of important files.

I've had Win 7 removing a couple of programs today after they were updated by users, very odd but sometimes tech goes wrong.

I think some self-moderation is in order. Apologies. I've left my first reply intact so people still get the jist and laugh at how silly I am. :)

Howdy. The sfc seems to have fixed it. The RDP is now back. The last Windows Update was done on the 11th and this happened the night before last.

The Office 365 installer told me it couldn't install because there was a x64 version installed which was a load of cobblers. I had to find the x64 installer to see if that would help; I certainly never used it before.

All seems OK now although Malwarebytes isn't loading up. I'll check the system logs tonight and see if I can find anything that suggests what might have happened.
