Windows 10 slow connecting/loading web pages.

Not sure if I buy this. I don't think the two are related.

What game are you talking about?

Quake live through steam. Always have a low ping. Changed that DNS and ping went to 130 which never ever happens. Went back to auto detect and ping back to normal. Strangely the connection / loading is rocket fast again after doing that. I've no idea what it may have done. My other computer is still functioning the same.

Im having one hell of a time myself with the internet.

I have had a huge issue with Vodafone and after a million phone calls and an eventual threat from my solicitors, its now finally all sorted, but the internet is still disgusting under Windows 10.

I am lucky in that I have a load of PCs that I use for some reason of another and right now, I am piddling abotu on a Windows 7 64 bit system, that is accessing the internet at a great speed and when I go to the Windows 10 PC... Poor again.

There is no hardware issues in my internet / network of any description and so the issue can only possibly be with that PC.

I have run Live Linux distros on it and its fine there and so its Windows 10.

In all honesty, I am now bored of people saying how good it is when in fact it is not good at all, its just a load of cack and I absolutely adore Windows 7 and so Im going back to 7 when I get fed up on the main PC... I still have its Windows 7 licence.

Although to be fair Windows 8.1 was fine.

It could be a simple driver issue, sometimes these issues are hard to track down regardless of OS, end of the day no OS is perfect, as to what runs great well that depends on the user in question even on the same OS, personally Win10 runs as fast as my Linux distros net wise, only issue I had was a crappy Asus modem/router which would disconnect etc even on Linux as well as 10, which I changed to TP Link VR900 and my network as been solid( you've got to love Broadcom based chipset modems).

I'm quite happy with Win10, but to be honest even with every Windows OS I have had, there's always room for improvement including overrated Win7, at least it's on it's way out :) .

Spud this might be of help just come across this thread and I have been having the same issues as you for weeks on end
finally got ultra cheesed off with pages that dont load or take a lifetime to open

anyway after experimenting trying all sorts i have got to the root of it on my PC
switch off windows defender and cloud defender I could not believe it after weeks on end of nightmare surfing - switching off windows defender and cloud defender the pages open instantly like they should - i switch it back on and back to square one pages wont open or take at least 30 seconds or longer

turning it off is night and day better
worked for me try it and see what happens

Hi buttkicker yes I found that helps . Not perfect but much improved, but what are you using to stop malicious stuff getting on?

I switch it on after each session do a scan and then switch it off noy ideal but far better than sat waiting half a life time for pages to decide if they want to open or not
convinced they have altered some settings in the security during the upfdates that locks the pc down so tight it cannot breathe if you know what i mean

another idea - is it the tracking mechanism on the web-sites that are causing your slow down, with firefox, using the addon to disable google tracking, speeds up load of sites you click, significantly; and ff also has an internal tracking disabler for non-google links, so links you follow do not go via any intermediary (these intermediaries might be blocked by defender so have to wait for a time-out when defender is on)
I had also specified tracking protection lists in explorer, but I do little browsing in explorer.

Well it's taken until now but I've finally cracked it. As a last ditch attempt I've bought a new router and the computer flies along. I've no idea why it only affected my new computer when my old one and wifi worked perfectly well but there you go.

After months of frustration, so much so I virtually stopped using it I'm back to full speed and computer happy. Thanks for all the suggestions but in the end not Win 10 after all.

Cheers Spud.

Hehe if I had a penny for every user that blames the OS I would be a millionaire ;) , glad you have the problem solved :)
