PC wouldn't boot last week, and after struggling with recov

Eery and resetting, I done a fresh install.

Windows 10 Pro, downloaded the latest version using Window's Media Install tool.

Formatted C: and fresh install. Installed some updates and installed chipset drivers. After restart the start button didn't work.

Spent hours reading 'fixes' online try to sort it, but it all failed. I assumed the chipset drivers were no longer compatible with the new build of 10, so did another fresh install.

This time I installed all available updates, sound card stuff, Chrome, LIFX app, and Office. Last night more updates were found. After installing a few and restarting, the start button is broken again! What is going on?! The settings app no longer works either, so can't continue installing remaining updates.

Does anyone have knowledge or experience to fix this?

EDIT: Also have Samsung Magician, NordVPN, and Rainmeter installed.

I rebooted in safe mode and selective startup, and the start button works in both. Rebooted back normally and it's working again. I'm thinking maybe it's a driver issue somewhere?

Is the Chipset driver needed? What does it actually do? (I'll have a read).

Windows is still working OK at the moment, and no more updates are being found. Touch wood it was just a bad update maybe?

I looked at your motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 spec, it used X58 chipset. The latest Intel chipset driver 10.1.1.44 supported X58 and above.

I suggest you to format C: and clean install then run Windows Update to install ALL updates first then you can try install chipset driver from above link. Try restart and see if start button still work, if it not work then you can uninstall chipset software through App and Features and restart PC and see if start button still work without chipset driver.

I done some reading and decided that having the correct chipset drivers installed was a good thing. I attempted to install the driver from here, but get an unknown error. Tried the driver from Intel website, unknown error.

Installed the drivers from the Gigabyte website for my board, they installed, but start button broken again! I now can't seem to uninstall them. Not sure how to do it. I still can't install the latest drivers for some reason.

Thank you. This seems to have fixed it. What did it do? (Perhaps I should've asked this first!)

It kept stalling/crashing/lagging. Took me a good 20 minutes to actually run the command successfully.
