Hi,

Having a weird issue which has now happened twice. I've recently done a fresh install of windows 10. For a day or two no issues whatsoever and then suddenly windows 10 starts to hang and I can no longer access the start menu and the system is slow when accessing any windows functionality, like opening taksbar manager etc. However no BSOD or stability issues. Shutsdown and boots quickly but pauses for longer than usual now when actually logging in.

This happened two days ago and reverted to an earlier backup image and all was well for a day and now its happened again.

Very puzzled. Things I've tried include disabling all no essential processes and unplugging all usb devices, but to no avail.

I'd say I'm a fairly competent user and been building PC's for a decade now but this is seriously a mystery to me.

Help please would be much appreciated.

is WU up to date, there was a bug in an earlier insider build where the Start Menu wouldn't open when clicked, but seems to have been resolved a while back.

Yep, all upto date. I've sussed that this is to do with my user account. If I create a new user account everything is fine. I had been using a local account primarily, but switching it to a MS one doesnt help. However if I create a brand new user profile all is ok. So that tells me it isn't hardware related and the actual install of windows and drives etc is fine.

So what has gone wrong with the user account and how would I fix that?

Have to say this has seriously shaken my trust with windows 10 now as I haven't done anything wrong as such.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
