Windows 10 taking forever to shut down

Its really annoying I tried many fixes but the problem remains, it doesn't always happen but most of the time it does. Windows 10 gets stuck on shutdown and hangs forever, it seems like its waiting to end a task up on shutdown. The issue started after a Windows update. My SSD is almost full.

I am in the process of backing up my drive or cloning the current drive to a larger SSD but I'd really like to get the shut down issue fixed.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had the same thing and it was the News And Interests section on the toolbar failing to close down - ending the task in Task Manager resulted in an instant shut down. I've now disabled the section altogether and haven't had the problem since.

The last time I had that problem it turned out it was the SSD. The SSD was failing and needed replacement. Just in case, what I would do, is replace the SSD and then fix the shutdown problem if it's still there.

I'm sure there must be a log somewhere that allows you to determine what the problem is. I await the input of someone wiser than me!!!

Mine seems to be very slow to start up one signed into Windows 10 since the last set of updates?
