I had a pop up box come up on Saturday saying support for Windows 10 Apr 2018 ends in Nov 2019. Restart to install a supported version.

As I was just leaving for the w/e, I set it off before going and left it to it.

I've come back and there was an error box on the screen saying something like "Upgrade failed, please connect external storage media"

I had to cancel and it has spent ages undoing all the changes and now is back to the previous version.

Has anyone come across this?

I'm wondering if it's to do with the fact my C: drive only has 6gb free on it (it's a small boot drive) and not much option to free up a lot of space.

If I just put in a USB stick/External hard drive will this solve it automatically or do I need to do something else first?

do exactly as you suggested, a power ext drive should sort it, a usb stick might even sort it
Else do a full cleanup, kill the hyberfil file and make more room by removing shadow copies

Great thanks, I'll give that a go tonight :)

I do have 2 drives in this machine (split into 4 partitions), there is plenty of space on the other partitions, how come the computer didn't use those but might/would use an external drive?
