Apologies if this subject has been discussed to death before, but I'm getting nowhere with this
My dad wants to upgrade his Win 7 Pro PC to 10 before the deadline, fair enough.
So last night I installed Win7 on my m-ATX box. The machine hadn't been setup properly since I cobbled it together out of spares and the SSD had a borked Windows install:
CPU: G3258
RAM: 16GB
GFX: 750Ti
Motherboard: Asus Z97M-Plus
PSU: EVGA GS 550W
Win7 installed fine and I then installed the motherboard and graphics drivers so I could get online. So I try running Windows Update and of course it refuses to play ball. Instead of sorting it out, I thought 'screw it, I might as well update directly to 10'.
So today I run the upgrade assistant. It's downloaded and then gets to installing. After watching it get to 99% complete I thought it would just finish. Nope, it's currently been at 99% for about an hour. I assume the only course of action is to just leave it and hope it'll finish? Or do I give up, reinstall Windows again and try to sort out the Windows updates first?
I've read that some systems have taken 20+ hours to finish, some not at all.
My main PC is not getting upgraded from 8.1 until I'm forced to.
