Probably take all of one week for someone to figure out how. Chances are if you can't do a direct Windows 10 install you can do a fresh windows 7/8 install then upgrade directly to 10 before installing any applications.
There's likely to be Windows 10 ISOs leaked which allow it, not as if any business is going to go through the faff of installing one OS to upgrade to another after all. I do think we'll get a code and MS will give everyone a way of doing a fresh install at some point, they'll likely have some way to ensure people can't just flog the W10 code though.
Skeeter - happens all the time with AV questions too tbh.
I forgot a major factor in this.
I have a new SSD that i will be installing, the SSD is still in it's box so i've enabled the upgrade on my current SSD but want to put windows 10 on my new SSD, sorry for the confusion.
I'm not sure how this will work as this will be a new device technically.
upgrading hdd/ssd doesn't make it a new device
Your reply isn't much help either tbh.
You can't clean install as its an UPGRADE. The clue is in the name. However once you have upgraded from a valid 7 or 8.1 you can reset your PC to make it clean, and reinstall straight to 10 from an ISO. But you MUST upgrade first.
And this doesn't apply to businesses as volume licensing is done differently. The upgrade is only meant for consumer devices.

Now can you answer my question?

im not trying to be smart, you said "I'm not sure how this will work as this will be a new device technically." hence why I said upgrading hdd/ssd doesn't make it a new device. if you've upgraded your motherboard then yes it'll be a new device.
also I have answered your question 2 times.
u have to upgrade first, then you'll be able to do a clean install without needing to enter a key
so install win8 on your new ssd then reserve win10 again
Now that is helpful, i shall do that tomorrow any idea how many times you can use the same serial code?
Is it true that you don't need to reserve your copy of Windows 10 using the upgrade app/icon thing to get your free upgrade? You can just use your valid Win 7sp1/8.1 key later on? In that case, how long does it remain valid for after Win 10 is released?
