Since running Windows 10 I've always relied on Windows own propriety tool 'Defender'; I'm cautious of any websites I visit i.e. never visit any unknown entities i.e. most my web use is either forums, youtube or online gaming connected via servers in game.

Downloads are limited to Steam only and the odd rar file for Assetto Corsa mods

Just wondering what the general concensus is out there / am I leaving myself vunerable?

I used to use Avast or AVG in the past, but wondering there benefit for their 'free' variants over Windows own offering.

I note that any vunderabilities are often patched efficiently by MS.

Windows Defender is normally fine for anyone who isn't a complete idiot online. Though for Serious Business I would recommend Kapersky Total Security as one of the best protections for Windows you can get. (If they can catch the NSA trying to penetrate their networks, then they're pretty good imo! ;) ).

However, the only 100% safety is a backup you can restore.
