I have my PC parts being delivered by OCUK tomorrow but struggling to work out where to get Windows from, OCUK are out of stock and the reviews on the rainforest make some purchases sound like they are a gamble, given the price isn't cheap I would rather not gamble :)

Before going further, I'm moving from Win 7 to Win 10, so this is all new to me :)

Firstly, which version should I be going for, the normal version or the pro?

After doing a spot of reading it seems like the pro version has a useful feature of delaying updates, seems like this would be useful with all the talk of systems being broken via certain updates?

Secondly, browsing the MS site, I believe the below link is where I should be downloading it from;

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Although it mentions I need a license, I thought there was a 30 day period that I could use it before activating it with a key? I don't have one and unsure where to get a reliable one from.

Thanks for your advice :)

Download the Windows 10 pro it has some features that are missing in the home version

You can still install Windows 10 without a key but I think some features are disabled and you will probably get constant prompts to insert key

Talking of keys, You can get Windows 10 pro keys from Volume sellers for single figures

Cheers for the reply but the new machine is all built and I went with windows home in the end as it was the cheaper option :)

I've never had any issues with Updates nor the periodic build installers. In fact, the last update resolved an registry issue I was having after uninstalling a third party app to displaying Canon RAW files. I have heard others who have.

Homes fine, what im using :)

Can pause updates for 7 days if needed, but since ive been on it (only about 3 months), ive never had any update issues, even the latest feature update - 1909, that was just released, has gone in, and works fine.
