I've got an old laptop, that was running Windows vista. I went on Ebay and bought Windows 7 Home premium, including SP 1 and the activation key.
I did a fresh install of Windows 7, and spent about 5 hours doing about 200 updates and installing them.
I've gone to the Windows 10 page, and it says my copy is on it's way, and I should check the Windows Update app, which appears in the tray in the bottom of the screen, but for some reason I haven't got it there. So I go to the troubleshooting screen, and it says click to resolve the issue, which I do.
After a few mins, it comes up saying Windows 10 updater app is not available for this version of Windows.
So what does that mean? I've got as far as I know a legit version of Windows 7, I activated it properly, so how do I get Windows 10? do I need the Updater app? or will I just get a msg on my Windows desktop at some point saying Windows 10 is available for download? or is there something else wrong?
