Morning peeps ,

Has anyone come across a windows 11 ISO bloat Free , i was trying to create my own using MSMG but i am unable to download the ZIP file because it contains some malware which work system is picking up. So just wondering if anyone has another way of either making one ? or has access to one ?

cheers

so i downloaded the ISO but need software to create the ISO image in bloat free mode. Then Move the Image to a USB/s to make installing 40 new machines quicker then having to go through each to remove the crap

I tend to use MSMG toolkit to do this.

Better to do it yourself than download a bloat free 1 as you never know what other people have done to the OS

There are images available of "stripped down OS" versions I don't use stripped down versions as usually find need packages laters, but I have one that has "20 in one" stick so if I need 32 or 64 bit version it does it all.

Was it the AV software that blocked the download or was it the browser?

I've tried to download it and I get "File was not available on site" using Chrome and Edge

Some versions of Windows 11 have the TPM chip thing disabled, so you can install Windows 11 on a old PC. Tried it myself I just get BSOD upon first boot after the install.

Also they remove the annoying account register requirement during install that is stupid if you don't have internet connection you can't continue the install. Stupid.

The virus scanners are probably picking up the batch files inside the 7z archive as malware, but it really isn't. If at all possible, disable your AV while downloading and using the script - in fact it's recommended to disable your AV during use of the script, to help avoid any issues while using it.

This probably sounds obvious, but I recommend reading the readme.txt file once you're able to download MSMG's ToolKit. It gives you a particular order to do things, which I'd recommend sticking to.

I don't see the obsession with this so called "bloat" removers. If you download the legit ISO from MS it won't have any 3rd party bloat. If you think you are going to stop Solitaire, Spotify and 3D viewer from returning when you use these tools, you are mistaken.

If you want to remove Apps, just run an offline DISM PoSH tool to strip them out. Else, if you are really useful with powershell, download Windows Server 2022 and change it to Windows 11. You'll never get any of the above apps then.

I can't bring myself to trust that my image is clean sourced if it comes from anything other than MS. TinyISO and MSMG toolkits could be home to any amount of unsuspecting naughties.

The only naughties you could bring home to your image when using MSMG's ToolKit are those you introduce yourself, either deliberately or inadvertently.

I created my own image with MSMG's ToolKit from a Windows 10 enterprise image. None of the apps I removed have come back. While it's true they may return during an OS upgrade (ie: from 22H2 to 23H2 or whatever), I'm yet to experience this - possibly because my laptop which has Windows 11 on it hasn't been offered the upgrade, due to it's hardware not being fully supported by Windows 11.

I haven't tried TinyISO, so I can't speak about my experiences with it. MSMG's ToolKit has proven sufficient for me, probably because I don't go daft and remove system software.

I've seen a Windows 11 install reduced to 1MB ;-)

seriously a lot was taken down and I think it reduced it a lot, so I guess for a non networked machine (removal of all networking features, samba, TCP/IP, network drivers) I suppose a good feature.

I think 10 is the same these days last time I had to find a ridiculously long ethernet cable as the router is miles away from the PC it was stretched across the room like a tightrope while I had to sign into my account. Bonkers

Rufus is generally enough. You still need to have the vanilla Windows ISO (which you can get from Microsoft's Windows toolkit) but while creating the bootable USB, it will give you the options to bypass the required Microsoft account and skip/disable all privacy options.

Isn't "Windows Tiny 11" still a thing, I remember seeing it someplace, try giving it a Google.
