My processor, purchased here a few years ago with a full system, is apparently not compatible with Windows 11 as it is not 8th generation.

Spec - Intel Core i5-6600 3.30GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151

What generation is this and is it worth just upgrading the processor, rather than a complete new system. My PC works great and is lightning fast for my needs.

Any advice would be appreciated.

My PC is almost 8 years old so probably time for an upgrade. If I were to buy a new Windows 11 compatible PC without a hard drive, can I simply plug in the SSD from my current computer which has Windows 10 and all my apps currently installed and then at some point upgrade to Windows 11?
