Hello

I’m really confused about how I buy windows 11 home for my new pc build.

I will have created the windows creation tool on a usb stick, but the product key has me stumped.

On windows website purchase windows 11 page it says select a configuration, either USB or download?

I just need the key, what would I select?

Thanks

Probably just click on download and you will be taken to the payment section at some point.

You can get cheap keys from somewhere, but you will have to seach for them yourself.

Just so you know, you can use Windows 11 unactivated for as long as you want. The only drawbacks are you will have a small watermark in the lower right corner and you will not be able to personalise the look of windows and use themes.

Windows can come on a USB stick (Like if you buy it from OCUK) or you can download it directly from Microsoft.

Some would prefer the USB stick version but others are ok to download it and use their creation tool to make their own USB stick.

I see, didn’t realise they sent usb sticks.

Download part had me wondering as well as if I’ve already created the windows creation tool myself, what’s there to download if I select that option and only need the license key?

They come on USB now instead of an CD\DVD like they used too over the years.

If you click on download instead of USB it will take you to the checkout for Windows 11 Home, I assume after this point\payment you will get a license key e mailed to you or available on the site once checked out

be aware windows 11 install is bloatware. You can get debloated which take up much less space, or create your own install disc. The US version is even more bloaty with adverts etc!

Fresh boot, I have avast installed but disabled so some processes are in memory
I used this tool after doing a new install on a system earlier this week

Does that make a backup image of the OS you have installed, or do you modify a Microsoft ISO image?
It has a "Tweak's" section that allows you to do certain things.

It does have MicroWin built in to it so you can do an custom ISO as well if you wish but I didn't use that section.

Just realised I can skip the entering license key during initial setup and then I can just purchase a license later tied to my ms account. Think I will do that.

Yeah, you do not need 1 to install Windows you just lose the customisation side of things as its locked out until activated.
