windows 11 insider preview from version 23516
has added hdr wallpaper
unfortunately they only give you a couple
anyone know where to find some wallpapers in .jxr format?
tried a load of "hdr" ones of the net
but theyre basically just jpegs
they dont pop the way these .jxr ones do
tried the jpeg to jxr converters
but i guess you cant upconvert something properly
if the datas not in the original
so whilst you do get a .jxr image
it just looks same as original jpeg did
sadly desktop icons etc still look dull in hdr though

I also some across this news and I can't find any jxr wallpapers online either.

However, every screenshot you take through windows gamebar creates both jxr and jpeg formats so I have a few of those.

@NZXT30 you got me thinking
Nvidia ansel captures in open exr
That might actually convert into jxr properly
Unlike jpeg
Since all the needed data might actually
Exist in exr
Or exr file might actually look good in hdr anyway
Without converting
Ansel would give opportunity to get
Better angle,position, framing etc
Than just a simple screenshot

Too late
Did it before I posted in here
That's why I knew Google wasn't
Coming to my aid

It’s probably just the supported extension you can easy convert normal wallpapers to this new extension.

I have no idea what’s so special about this new format to be really able to comment more about them. I’ll do some tests on my laptop soon. See what’s special about them.

Not sure jxr is a new format
Just an extended range form of jpeg
Been around a few years apparently
Guess it's possible never been used in this way before
Did convert some jpegs
Doesn't come out same as Microsoft 4 sample jxr
Just looks same as original jpeg

Hard to explain
Not on pc so can't just upload them
The sample jxr viewed in non hdr mode
Look way over exposed/saturated/some other term
But once hdr is enabled
That goes away and they look great
