Windows 11 on unsupported hardware...

On the road....
Maybe I'm being a bit dumb here (not unheard of!) but I've just come to reinstall Windows 11 on an old PC of mine , 4790k, 32Gb DDR3, Gigabyte Z-97 motherboard, I'm using Rufus as I have numerous times before on both this machine and others that are not supported but now I'm not getting the option in Rufus to bypass the hardware requirements nor will it let me download an iso of 11 from within Rufus as I've done previously...

I spent most of last night trying different versions of Rufus etc but with no success.

I'm guessing something fundamental has changed here in either how this is now done, or indeed how my mind works! :o :D

If the Rufus method is no longer a thing, I'm assuming there's a new workaround and if so, what is it?

The machine was previously running 11 - via Rufus to install - with no problems until its Windows SSD decided to die.

Any help appreciated. :)

Just tested rufus 4.7
Downloaded the iso with no problems
How are you trying to get rufus to Download it?
Should be
To the right of the download button
There's a little drop down menu
Once selected download in there
You actually have to click the big download button
Before it does anything

Edit
Ran it all the way through
All options to bypass requirements
Those are still available too

No idea what I was doing wrong, I've tried again today with no joy...

Thankfully I remembered I had a copy of WinBootMate which allowed me to set up the 11 install as required without any requirement checks and the machine is up and running again just fine...

Just wish I knew what I am doing wrong with Rufus!?!

Anyway, appreciate the feedback guys, thanks.

That's definitely strange
Think there's also another software
Though not actually tried it
Called flyby11
Always useful to have alternatives just in case
Something strange happens
Like you're experiencing with one software

I have just took the plunge and updated my Windows 10 machine with a i7-6800K CPU and ROG Strix X99 motherboard. Both were not supported for Windows 11.
I followed this and it worked perfectly. Took about an hour to do. Really impressed actually, it copied everything over perfectly except the Corsair iCue software which I downloaded and installed manually.
Afaik is this the process to follow. Download the ISO from Microsoft. Use Rufus to create installer USB bypassing the system requirements.

Rufus 4.7 worked for me. Now running Windows 11 version 24H2. Thank you.

Think they have moved some stuff around since last used rufus:

Have you clicked on the dropdown next to 'SELECT' and changed to 'DOWNLOAD' then click on 'DOWNLOAD', this should be up all the os to download.

The requirements removal options box appears when you click on START

Yes but it didn't let me download anything, the weird thing is I subsequently tried going back to a much older version of Rufus thinking that may be the issue and it was no different, no ability to download even though I was selecting it....

Which rufus, installer or portable?

Are there any errors in rufus.log?

When I did mine last night I downloaded the ISO from Microsoft separately and didn't choose Download in Rufus Just chose the file in SELECT

Any possibility firewall is blocking it
Downloading the iso?
Lost track will it work if you already have an iso?
Don't think so, I downloaded the iso from the M$ website without any problem.

Regardless, I've sorted it via other methods, just weird I can't seem to use Rufus now where previously I've used it many times without any issues..

Oh well!

Yeah weird stuff can happen for sure
Spent hours last night
Trying to figure out why my gpu wouldn't downclock
When idle
And wouldn't go over 1500mhz on full load
Uninstalling nvidia app sorted the downclock issue
But uninstalling msi afterburner which I was using
To Undervolt/lower power use
Hasn't reverted the gpu to its factory defaults

Yet if I boot to a different hard drive
As got multiple drives with Windows on them
Just for this sort of thing
So can double check if things are software issues
The card works perfectly
