I'm guessing this has been covered before but I did a search and the last post I could see specifically asking this was back in February.

I'm on Windows 10 and keep getting reminders to upgrade to Windows 11. Is there any reason not to? Windows 10 works fine so I don't have any need to do it but I guess I may as well?

Is there a prevailing wisdom on whether or not to upgrade?

No reason to update to Windows 11.

Its been around for quite awhile now and if you update from Windows 10 to 11 you get 10 days to roll back if your not happy with it before the files used are deleted.

or if you have a spare SSD you could do a clean install of Windows 11 and give it a try without messing with the Windows 10 installation

No reason not to update you mean?

I think I’ll do it just to get rid of the nagging from Windows 10!

I don't think about it myself now I've installed it on many PCs.

One tip to find anything in Win11 is just press the Windows key and start typing the name of what you want. Stuff still gets moved around in Windows 11 still so that can be a quick way to navigate.

Ok, thanks. I feel like I “use” the OS less than I used to years ago; not sure if that makes sense or what I mean really; maybe that things work more intuitively now? Not sure.

Will try it at some point and see.

Generally I only update when I absolutely have to mainly because of issues with finding device drivers and also games tend to run better on previous versions due presumably to less bloat I don't have any actual data to back that up just my experience. Theres also a new UI to get used to as well as setting everything up as you like it which is usually a chore. If none of that bothers you then go for it.

If the nagging bothers you and it does me disable TPM in the Bios

I updated to windows 11 the other day and so far quite like it. Still need to get used to the start menu button being in the middle though!

You can move it to the left - I tried centre and changed it within 10 minutes, at least for me in the centre makes no sense.

Oh that's good to know thanks. I think i might move it to the left too! I'm going to be deploying this to the business next year so might do the same for all users!

What annoyed me about having it centred is that icons\programs would move when stuff is opened and closed.

Was a pain when you closed something, the program moved and you ended up clicking something else instead.

I have mine to the left but I also installed Explorer Patcher to give me back the quick launch option and the Windows 10 start menu.

I tried to get used to it without the software but having to click start every time to load an app was annoying when I have multiple programs etc running for work and pinning them to the start menu was just as bad.

Shame they cannot give you the options to pick what style you like without using 3rd party apps

I also used explorer patcher to give me the right click menus back and the never combine but think these are back in the OS to a degree (Never Combine is there but its not the same as Windows 10)
