Hi,

Currently running a 10 year old setup;

MSI H87M-E33 Intel H87 (Socket 1150) Micro-ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5-4570 3.20GHz Quad Core Processor
TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Running Windows 10.

Windows update tells me my setup is not compatible with Windows 11.

I'm guessing it's to do with the TPM I've read about.

I'm looking for second hand parts.

What year motherboards should I be looking for to have TPM 2.0 ??

Thanks Ben

The supported cpus is pretty much accurate, I think (ryzen 2000 or 8th gen), but some boards need a bios update to make the required settings accessible. Hardware tpm is a bit more sketchy, but a lot of boards do have them.

Download the windows 11 ISO from the Microsoft site to your desktop https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
Download Rufus Portable and extract to your desktop: https://rufus.ie/en/
Insert a USB stick and burn the ISO to the USB stick using rufus, just before it burns it, it will give you the option to disable the TPM requirement, secure boot, bit locker etc etc, select which options you want and dont want.
open the USB stick once burning has finished and double click setup, this will keep all your files (upgrade)

Windows 11 is lighter than Windows 10, so if you're running 10 now, you'll have no probs running 11, stupid M$ requirements.

If you need you product key, just follow this, I use the notepad method, make sure you change it from a .txt file to all files when saving: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...duct-key/8687ef5d-4d32-41fc-9310-158f8e5f02e3

Just because it says may not be compatible, it might be. E.g. my circa 5 year old MSI tomahawk max ii and Ryzen 5 3600, just need to change some bios settings but don't feel the need to go to Windows 11. Google search for 'windows 11' and 'your motherboard name' and you might at least see if it's possible. I think you can roll back to Win10 for 7 days iirc.
