Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade to Windows 11 (currently on Windows 10 pro). There's no real reason I need to, just fancy a change.

The only thing I'm concerned with is an audio program called Pro Tools which, in itself, is fully compatible with Win 11 but some of the plugins may not be. I'm a hobbyist so if it all goes belly up I won't be losing out on work or anything.

I need a bigger install drive so have ordered a new m.2 drive.

Would it be possible to fresh install Windows 11 onto the new m.2 drive, test it fully and if I find any major issues I can't get around, put my old Win 10 drive back in and pick up where I left off?

Thanks!

The thing to do here is clone the old drive to the new one, put the old one in a safe place, then upgrade the new one. I'm assuming you have a separate data drive.

Thanks. I could do but haven't reinstalled Windows from scratch for about 5 years. I don't have any massive reason to start from fresh, other than to get rid of all the junk I don't use in one go but essentially you're saying I will be able to back to Windows 10 either way?
