Windows 11 VBS security settings steal your frames

Wasn't that widely known? First thing I turn off is memory integrity from bios

Toms hardware says they tested this when Windows 11 launched and it had no performance impact, but now there is a significant impact so something has changed.

Toms says this is a GPU test, but I put this in the CPU section because its clearly CPU limited, I wish they tested more CPUs other than a 13900k to see if lower end CPUs are more affected

I have it disabled on my OS.

Ah so thats why your benchmarks score so high, I need to get with the program and catch up :D

Then tom's is clueless. And so is techppowerup cause they test with it on. :D

"So, should you leave VBS on or turn it off? It's not quite that clear cut of a question and answer. The actual security benefits, particularly for a home desktop that doesn't go anywhere, are probably minimal."

What does "probably minimal" mean? We don't know, but we think so?

Very strange, given Tom's Hardware wrote an article when Windows 11 came out warning of the performance impact of these settings.
However, our tests show that you will still see an impact in both gaming and application performance due to the heightened security, and that's even with the newer chips. Now, the performance hit we've seen surely isn't as profound as the ~28% numbers we've seen bandied about, but losing 5% of your gaming performance isn't acceptable if you don't need the added security — especially when that represents a full CPU generation's worth of performance improvement.

Not sure why they're presenting this as a revelation now. Different author I guess.

I just turned mine off. Would be good if there was a list of setting la you could turn off that would increase gaming performance.

I tend not to touch most of the security stuff on my laptop/desktop, but I have an Ayaneo Air handheld and had already disabled some stuff just for performance/battery life. Just checked and it was enabled on there. It isn't now.

Installed 13900k few days ago and after a lot of messing about found out it was set on by default causing a loss in frames... I actually remembered when Steve from HUB done a video on it and how to actually turn it off . Gets installed and activated as default now it seems
