I've got a X1950 Pro (AGP) on order but as I run Windows 2000 was wondering what drivers to go with. From ATI's site they appear to have stopped development of the Win 2000 catalysts back in Feb 2006 with v6.2. Will the XP version of the Catalysts install/work or should I go with the Omega's (latest v6.9) that apparently support both 2000 and XP?

they *should* work fine. i know i've definitely used newer drivers than 6.2 on win2000 this year. not sure about the newest drivers though.

it's certainly worth a shot. :)

Thanks for the welcome and replies - put my mind to rest.

Card now installed, updated catalysts to v6.11 and gave the system a run out on a couple of games. I tried FEAR first up as it had brought my X800Pro to its knees, playable only at 1024 x 768 with everything pulled back to medium. Well I set everything to max, 4xAA, 8xAF, res at 1152x864 (my prefered res) and ran the time demo. The framerate never dropped below 27 and averaged out somewhere in the 40s - too gobsmacked to make a note of the exact figure. I'm very impressed. This has to be the best interim upgrade I have ever done. My 2 year old XP3500 Winchester cored rig is now punching well above its weight.

Yeah the x1950pro is a cracking card, will cut through everything for a long time yet, i played Fear on my x1800 XT with A64 3500+ maxed out in 1280x1024 with 2xAA/16xAF, and only soft shadows off, ran like a dream, and the x1950pro is not that much slower, it may even be better in Fear due to having 36x shaders. :)

Just re-checked the settings in FEAR everthing maxed out save for soft shaddows off, 4AA, 8AF: min FPS of 28, max 165, ave 58.

I'm very impressed with this card and all for £150 quid.
