Hi

I have a server in my house running Windows 2000 Server. Its my internet gateway, and for security reasons I like to keep the screen locked.

Sometimes when I finish VNCing to it, i forget to lock it (CTRL+ALT+DEL then Lock Computer). Is there anyway I can get it to do it after say 5minutes automatically if i forget?

Ta

Sweet nice one. I always thought the screen saver password was not the same as a computer locked thing.

Thanks :)

Oh excellent :)

Thanks guys. So I have the the 5min time out if im say actually at the computer and forget to lock it, and for VNC it will lock when i close it down.

Fantastic :D

Formatted it not long ago cause managed to get some trojan on there that was executing commands via cmd prompt > tftp.exe blah blah. So im trying to lock it down as much as possible.

Cheers again :)

in that case..

dont vnc from everywhere, instead, install hamachi on the pc; hamachi is for creating secure vpn's, it like a really simple messenging program that creates a vpn between all your contacts (so it creates a virtual network between you and the other members of your network)

you can use windows shares, remote desktop, vnc, games, anything over it! had this pc on all day and hamachi is using 4500kb ish, all you need to install it is dhcp client service enabled (it is by default)

it works around routers and works well with firewalls too, once on the vpn, you can use computernames instead of ip's

also, remote desktop is better than vnc if you're the only user
