Windows 2003 Share not being seen by macs

Hi,

Recently one of my company servers died a serious death on its main os partition (thankfully the storage raid area remained untouched).

I have rebuilt the main os partition and then restored the storage partition and returned the sharing rights. Now PCs can access the share but macs cant, i have madesure the server is enabled for mac access but when the mac users browse to it they see nothing and can not connect to the server, im really stuck....please help!

Do they get any errors?

Windows 2003, 2003 Storage server or 2003 R2?

2003 R2

No errors at all, mac users click on the server and no data shows, no request for username or password or anything.

Since the Macs have used it before and I'm going to assume the rebuilt server is using the same IP I would say the problem is most likely the server expecting digitally signed communication from the client. Goto the Local Policies and check to see if "Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always)" is enabled. If it is disable it.

it is disabled by default on windows 2k3 and i have never changed it.

interestingly though, the feature to enable it is greyed out.

Lists the four (two client and two server) settings for digitally signed SMB traffic and what the registry keys are for them.

Also check these aren't set in a GPO.
