OK I know it sounds funny but I need a little window to show what's happening on my 2nd screen.

I have a projector and its pretty far away, so when I put up video files its fine but when I need to contoll it I cannot see my mouse, or little internet buttons.

I duplicate at the moment but the projector is for a meeting and the main screen has audio controls and other bits that I don't really want showing on the projector.

So I was wondering if there was a way to duplicate the projector in a window on the main screen so I can see what I need to do but keep the volume and other controls separate?

Remote desktop to yourself? Teamviewer I'm not sure can do it but I accidently found out Chrome Remote Desktop can.

Not really the solution I had in mind...
Kinda needs to try and be simple as there are some non techy people that would use this.

If your using a VGA cable to the projector you can use a VGA splitter.

One split will go to the projector and one split will come back into your local monitor. It's better if you have 2 monitors but it will work with one monitor as long as you have a spare VGA input on it, you will have to constantly switch between inputs if you're using one monitor though.

I'm not sure if DVI/HDMI signals can be split as easily. But it's the same concept you just split it with one lead going to the projector and the other one coming back into your local monitor.

You could use Open Broadcast Software to capture the 2nd monitor output, then you can preview it and see the 2nd monitor in OBS window on 1st monitor.

As you are not actually streaming, only using the preview, there is an option to "Disable encoding while previewing", to stop you wasting more CPU you than you need to.

You could make it so after you set it all up for them, a user would only need to start OBS and click the preview button.

Would look like this:
