Sorry if this has already been posted but i spend ages trying to find out,
could any1 tell me the difference between Windows xp 32 bit and 64 bit, this has been confusing me for a very long time :O

In pratice not a lot, apart from less apps/drivers run on 64 bit versions.

In theory 64 os are faster (when running 64 bit enhanced applications). They can also address more ram. 64 bit hasn't really taken off yet...

Windows x64 is designed to take advantage of 64 bit CPU thus giving more power and speed to your O/S. TBH Windows 32 Bit is the best way to go for now, you wont have to mess about with lacky driver support. I've used both and after coming back to Windows XP 32 bit I can honestly say to hell with x64 I found after installing a lot of software on Windows x64 it would become slower and sluggier.

Maybe once everyone accepts Windows x64 as 'the' O/S, support will be better and more drivers, software will run.
