It downloads fine, goes to reboot pc then the 3 stages of installion go through smooth however when it gets to stage 3 it manages to reach 100% for a while and then says "Windows service pack failed to install.Reverting to old changes. Please do not turn off computer" or something like this.

My cpu is overclocked but i should imagine that shouldn't cause this? also i had AVG turned on and my pc is very stable so i have no idea what's wrong.

I got all other updates so anyone know?

Thanks.

Disconnect fron the internet, Stopp as much stuff as you can from being run, such as Spyware, A/V and so on and then right click on the SP file and Run As Administrator!

Try that!

It should install just fine without having to do that, but if you are having issues, then try that.

ADDITION

No, your CPU clocked should no do anything, but it often does, so, revert the PC to as basic and stock as possible.

Cut out ALL options no matter how silly they seem.

Could be a number of things, 3rd party software, 'tweaks', anything

Probably best to just install fresh with a Vista SP2 disc if you can't find the root of the issue

Also, try googling what comes up
